Tatterboot Tavern Guide
Taverns of Kunark, Odus, and Velious

Here are some of the taverns of Kunark, Odus, and Velious, organized by zone.

Rated on a scale of 1-5: 1 = disappointing, 5  = excellent

Numbers in parentheses refer to the number on EQ Atlas maps.

Kunark

East Cabilis

Tink N Babble (loc 914, -86)

Rating: 4, because they serve Trog Brew.

Drinks served: Cabilis Pale Ale, Green Death Rum, Honey Mead, Short Ale, Fish Wine, Red Wine, Trog Brew

Brew barrel: on first floor.  Another one east of bank.

Brewing supplies: shotglass, cask, bottle.  More brewing supplies east of bank.

Notes: Earlier intelligence was false, and there really is a true bar in Cabilis.  Using my usual charm and uber-sneakiness, I was able to get in and persuade Klok Poklon to sell me some beer, and staggered out of Cabilis a well-toasted lizard.

Trog Brew and Green Death Rum are good stuff, and I don't think you can get them anywhere else.  Trog Brew.... oh man.   I think it's my favorite.  This stuff burninates.

Velious

Thurgadin

Notes: I like the Coldain.  Beer is very important to them.  They have many unique brews.  Of course, what else are you going to do if you live in a cave in the ice and freeze your... toes... off 12 months out of the year? That's right - drink yourself insensible.

Most taverns have their own souvenir mug.  Some are apparently harder to get than others.  (If anyone has any clue how to get a Velium Keg Collector's Mug, or Doogle's mug, please send me an email. I need them for my stein collection.)

The Velium Keg (4) (loc 47, neg 393)  Be careful which way you turn if you have just stumbled out of Doogle's - go the wrong way and you'll end up in the mines.

                        Rating: 5

Drinks served: Short Beer, Mead, Short Ale, Ale, Fish Wine, Brandy, Dire Wolf Pale Ale, Coldain Ice Beer, Velium Keg Stout, Dain's Choice Porter, Kromrif Spit Vodka, Bleeding Kromzek, Melted Glacier Whiskey, Winter Falls Wine

Brewing supplies: Brew barrel, shotglass, cask, bottle

Souvenir mug:  The Velium Keg Collector's Mug - possibly only awarded during GM events.

Notes: This is apparently the place to be, 'cause it is always crowded.  Don't step on the guy sprawled out front.  They have a huge work of art in the very back - three giant glass kegs of bubbling beer - mmmmm.

One of the barkeeps is named Grimthor, just like the guy in Shadowhaven.  Must be a good name for bartenders.

The Icy Mug (27) (neg 51, 81) Has a large glass window in front.

                        Rating: 5

Drinks served: Short beer, Mead, Short Ale, Ale, Fish Wine, Brandy, Dire Wolf Pale Ale, Coldain Ice Beer, Winter Falls Wine, Dain's Choice Porter, Kromrif Spit Vodka, Bleeding Kromzek

Brewing supplies: Adia Coldbeard sells rubbing alcohol too.

Souvenir mug: Petcas Coldbeard will sell you The Icy Mug Souvenir Stein for 5 g.

            The Holy Harbringer (18) (neg 385, 440)

                        Rating: 4

Drinks served: Short Beer, Mead, Short Ale, Ale, Fish Wine, Brandy, Coldain Ice Beer, Harbinger Holy Ale, Winter Falls Wine, Dain's Choice Porter, Kromrif Spit Vodka

                        Brewing supplies: Shotglass, bottle, cask

Souvenir mug: ?  I have not even heard a rumor of one.

Notes: This place is a little livelier than most, and they take their beer very seriously.  I've seen them toss Horasug, a little guy that I've seen wandering around the other taverns, out on his head when he came in spouting off about the evils of liquor and outlawing booze.  I'd have helped them if I could've stood up.

Saramor has a really nice hat.

The place does only get a 4 because the barkeep (who has the gall to call himself a Loremaster) insists on telling one of the oldest bar jokes in this world or any other.  ("This rope walks into a bar.....")

            Doogle's Drinks (8) (loc neg 66, neg 311)

                        Rating: 4

Drinks served: Short Beer, Mead, Short Ale, Ale, Fish Wine, Brandy, Dire Wolf Pale Ale, Coldain Ice Beer, Doogle's Spiced Rum, Dain's Choice Porter

                        Brewing Supplies: Shotglass, Cask, Bottle

Souvenir mug: Doogle's Signature Souvenir Mug.  No clue how to get one.

Notes: not as cozy or as friendly.  They do have a dart board though.  Art work - little picture of a wolf.

How to play darts: (as taught to me by Brayve Anglefier)  Buy some beer.  Optional to drink before you start, but recommended.  Face the dartboard with your opponent.  Random 20.  Higher roll wins.  If you roll lower - you lose, buy the next round, and/or chug a drink.  If you roll higher - you win, drink the beer kindly provided by your opponent.  If you roll a 20, it's a bullseye, and you may feel free to laugh like a donkey at your opponent.  Keep score if you feel like it.

The Broken Glacier (13) (loc neg 320, 0) Straight ahead as you walk in.  Go downstairs.   The Bottlenip brothers, Durgan and Fogerty, will be glad to serve you.

                        Rating: 5

Drinks served: Short beer, Mead, Ale, Short Ale, Fish Wine, Brandy, Dire Wolf Pale Ale, Coldain Ice Beer, Melted Glacier Whiskey, Winter Falls Wine, Kromrif Spit Vodka, Bleeding Kromzek, Doogle's Spiced Rum, Dain's Choice Porter

Brewing supplies: Tobart Dirkins, when you walk in, will sell brewing supplies to you.  The Bottlenip boys also sell shotglasses, casks, and bottles.

Souvenir mug: Hail Tobart for the mug.  I'm pretty sure you need better than average faction, because I tried it when I first came in and he said nothing about a mug.  Now that I'm an ally he practically begged me to take one.  Give him a plat for your very own Broken Glacier Souvenir Mug.

Notes:  This is a cozy place, with comfy furniture and a warm fire downstairs.  There are a couple rooms upstairs to sleep it off in.  Leifur, who hangs out by the fire, really likes bards and will make velium armor (Resonant armor) for any bard with the right stuff (corroded plate armor from Kael Drakkal and gems).  He's my bud.  Durgan will tell you that you need Dwarven Ale - but then doesn't sell it.

Crystal Caverns

Notes: In the little Coldain settlement at the bottom of the Crystal Caverns, there are actually a couple places to buy booze.  Not much more than a place to pick up your beer while you are deep in the cave, but what more do you really need there?

            Hardat (3)

                        Rating: 2

Drinks served: Short beer, Ale, Gnomish Spirits, Short Ale

                        Brewing supplies: Cask, shotglass

            Gilliad Coldheart (1)

                        Rating: 2

Drinks served: Short beer, Mead, Honey Mead, Short Ale, Fish Wine, Ale, Red Wine, White Wine, Capt. Orlin's Spiced Ale

Brewing supplies: Shotglass, cask, bottle, grapes, packet of kiola sap

Kael Drakkal

Kellek Felhammer's bar (4)

Drinks served: Kael Drakkal Ale, Dragon's Blood Braggot, King Tormax's Private Reserve, Flaming Coldain, Coldain Bone Brew

Brew barrel, brewing supplies: nope

Other stuff: Coldain pickles, Wyvern flesh pie.   Mmmm, pie.

For you fishing freaks (Nkai), the other guy in the bar sells a Greywood fishing pole and cans of icy worms.

Notes: The Kromrif and Kromzek could not hate me more if they tried.  Not one to let something like that get between me and a good beer, I still managed to sweet talk ol' Kellek out of his brew.  I worked up a thirst beforehand by killing giants with my guild, and then staggered back to them when done.  Valor of Unity = enablers.

Odus

Dulak

            The Hungry Shark

                        Rating: A big fat ZERO!

Drinks served: They never served me!

                        Brewing supplies: Who knows!?

Notes:  These folks took a dislike to me right off, maybe because my guild leader was dragging them out into the street where we hacked them to bits.  Go figure.  I kept telling the bar wench to fetch me a drink, dammit, but she never did.  Surly bunch.  The barkeep and chefs were smelly ogres, most of the patrons were surly dark elves, and the bar wench was a saucy Erudite, though I must say I approved of her fashion sense.  But the thing that really clinched a ZERO for this pub was the Erudite troubadour.  I mean, that's just wrong.  Not as bad as say, a halfling bard would be... but darned close.  I had to kill him.

On the plus side, they have a big watering hole in the bar filled with - you guessed it - a hungry shark.  So I guess the entertainment (other than their 'bard') is probably not too bad.

You can buy stuff from a guy in the fish warehouse across the street, just bait and such.  He doesn't respond to the be-my-friend song, so you might have to sneak up behind him to get a look at his goods.
